Currently reading Chip War and this makes me think the US is trying not to repeat the mistake it made in the 60s/70s and over licenced chips and manufacturing in Asia and ended up facing massive competition from the Japanese who could do things better and cheaper

Was asked how I found living Brussels having walked through the pleasant streets of Amsterdam this morning. Had to stop and remind myself of all the plus points not least of which is not seeing a huge chunk of my salary disappear in housing costs

Disagree that if we make flights more scarce or unaffordable, a very large share of people will not care at all. In Europe at least, it's a crucial means of transports for millions.
