It would be really appreciated if you could read and share in your networks too 💛

It’s been a very hard year - Andy Bell
Unlike a lot of places in tech, my company, Set Studio/Piccalilli has no outside funding. Bootstrapped is what the LinkedIn people say, I think. It’s been a hard year this year. A very hard year...

Reigniting my blog and my first post contains references to The Shining and Toast of London 🤷‍♂️

Make of that what you will.

Finding moments to look in to Figma MCP <> Cursor for work stuff. What I’m looking at in particular is getting to a sweet spot where it identifies a component on Figma and pulls its coded counterpart correctly.

Back when I was finding my feet in tech everybody was buzzing about building positive change. Somewhere along the way, something changed. Fortunately for us though, tech is not the first industry forced to defend itself against dubious practices.

What might we learn if we were to look elsewhere?
Looking elsewhere - Robb Owen

A productive weekend of getting my digital life in order:

- Feedbin replaces Feedly for everything RSS
- Obsidian replaces Notion for notes and posts (IA Writer for longer form)
- my old domain now properly redirects to kevinhealyclarke.co.uk (with a quick reskin, very much work in progress)

During my livestream yesterday, I talked about Figma Sites for a little bit. I've broken it off into a short, stand-alone video.

I don't normally like bashing a company, but when a company of Figma's size makes a product this bad, I think it's important to call them out on it.

I have worked my entire career in tech, I am not scared of or oblivious to what these tools can do. I have used them, I have seen them up close, and have concluded that the only stuff they’re good at is that which is unimportant enough not to matter, and even then only if you ignore what they cost.

I got this solid pine table top for a steal a couple of weeks back (it’ll eventually become my new desk) and finally got round to prepping and sanding down this weekend.

Next up, marking up the standing desk frame, cable tidy and extension lead then getting it oiled and installed.
