The digital representations will help preserve the magazines for future generations by reducing the need for physical handling. Digitisation, alongside the access facilitated by the website, has enabled The Busy Bee to be openly accessible for further investigation for the first time.

The DH team have been working on the digitalisation of @exeterunispeccoll.bsky.social 's Theatre Royal, Exeter Playbills Collection (1890-1955).

The process involves a 150MP CH Camera, Guardian Copystand, and Capture One software to create high quality images.

This week has featured 1910s playbills that highlight the variety of productions produced by the theatre. They ranged from musicals, pantomimes, film showings, operas, and ballets. Pantomimes like Dick Whittington and his Cat, Aladdin, and Cinderella were particularly popular.
