I have so many wonderful memories of family gatherings where a turkey and/or ham was the centre of the feast. As an aspiring vegetarian it gets harder by to continue eating this way. This is not to condemn others that do, it’s a personal choice based on how I’ve come to view the animals we harvest.

Given the behaviours of these so-called adults, I seriously doubt the prefrontal cortex development in any of them had even partially been completed. Talk about judgement let alone empathy and self control.

Prefrontal cortex development in the brain continues until reaching age 25-30, depending on the individual. The prefrontal cortex is largely responsible for judgment, reason, logic, decision-making and impulse control. So absolutely, teens are kids.

Very true! I’ve considered that being a humanist, is to be truly capable of engaging with people on all levels…intelligently, peacefully, and hopefully, lovingly. I do try, often with great success and oftentimes with somewhat less. It’s because after all I’m only human!
