8. Happily, he paired up with a young (2020) release female in 2022, the new pairing fledged 3 chicks, 2 in 2023, 1 in 2024. As we speak the lone female is rearing a potential 4th chick of the pair. Caimin has left a huge legacy, he will not be forgotten quickly (vid E Murray)

Middle of the day bat action in local oak-hazel fragment of Atlantic rainforest, always worrying to see bats do this (warming climate disturbing hibernation?) but maybe just a solitary hungry individual

The exception to date has been a 2018 Irish bred (Connemara) male (Aonghus) that made the longer 34.5km crossing to Galloway, SW Scotland, in May 2019, spending the summer in Northumbia, N England, before heading home via the Isle of Man, the 1st WTE recorded there since 1930! 🌍🪶🦉
