Rotating machinery engineer MIMechE. Rugby enthusiast, recreational golfer, water babe. Diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 51.
I’m Gillian, diagnosed with T1D at 51 in late 2019. Family history of T1D.

Timing wasn’t great as Covid stopped all appointments but my GP directed me to #GBDoc and peer support / online training.

I live in NE England and use Libre2 and MDI with smart pens.

Exciting (for both you and Edna)

I hope you get some better news today and they find out what’s going on 🫂

Agree that seems unusual - were you watching hockey? An adrenaline rise?

Sometimes the marinade before cooking has honey? I’ve been caught like that before and it’s very annoying.
I do find meat on its own does about 50% protein to glucose conversion but usually about 3 hours after eating

Ok, so I should have checked the forecast before going out for a walk (it was bright but not sunny when I left), big squall and then rain when I was still about a mile from home ….

Recovery ☕️

All the work on language matters makes it clear how important the use of words will be on an individual’s response - any implication that someone with T1D is lazy about looking after their health is ridiculous

I’ve long suspected I’m on the autistic spectrum but don’t feel the need for a diagnosis but always good to see articles that highlight potential difficulties as it makes asking for adjustments easier when you can point to published information

Very useful - even those of us not formally diagnosed but suspicious should read and consider some of the strategies and characteristics as it helps explain some of the difficulties I find particularly around change

I was hopeful that yesterday would be a sunny day - we had a spectacular pink sunrise but then the clouds came over 😔

Agree, this was a few weeks ago before playing golf, need the sunshine back even if it’s cold

Hope you’re now on the road to recovery 🫂

Any chance you could borrow a dog trailer or push chair do you can both go out? Must be hard when you’re usually so busy together. Hope the physio helps Edna to recover.

All recovered without treating!

My Lego flowers!
January 27, 2025 at 9:14 PM
I hope you enjoy constructing this as much as I enjoyed building my orchid set at the weekend.

I guesstimate 2 1/2 to 3 litres, mainly tea with milk and some water.

Such a thought provoking reflection - the seesaw impact of two conditions neither of which are really understood by many people even in health care and the impact this has. I hope 2025 will be a smoother road.
