How the summer of 2025 looked here
September 10, 2025 at 8:11 PM
I've got such a backlog omg. But I just came back from Sverige and before I move on to more pressing things, this is how I'm going to remember it:
September 8, 2025 at 12:12 AM
Praha, Wien, Venezia, Padova, Monza, Como, Locarno, Luzern, Bern, Chamonix, Paris, Montpellier, Barcelona.

Finished last week: about 3750km done in rather unimpressive 12 days of travelling, with two rules: only train travel allowed between towns, and no hurry.

The place where I touched the sky and my eyes shimmered with tears

I'm still unpacking mentally after the trip. It's been a long and intense one and coming back wasn't easy. I hope to get to writing a few sentences about it soon, maybe publish it as a blog post!

Trains #8&9: Trenord/SBB ETR 524, Monza ➡️ Locarno
June 18, 2025 at 9:18 PM
Day 4: Monza.

A town modern and with an industrial feel, but still cosy and green. And with one of the nicest parks I've ever been to.
June 18, 2025 at 9:13 PM
Day 3: still Venezia in the morning. In Caffe Brasilia the owner passed me un caffè (espresso - implicitly) smiling and I drank it at the bar, feeling like a part of the family.

Then, my favourite town in the whole of the country: Padova. Local and cosmopolitan, true and extravagant.
June 18, 2025 at 9:03 PM
Day 2: Venezia

Biennale of Architecture was a huge letdown, more in the realm of the modern art establishment, but the city. The city! Still maybe the most fascinating one on the Earth.
June 16, 2025 at 12:29 PM
Train #4: OEBB Railjet, Wien Hbf -> Venezia S. Lucia

After entering Italy, it was tunnel after tunnel, almost all the way to Udine. The ride took about 8 hours. A few more like this would fix me
June 16, 2025 at 12:20 PM
Day 1: Praha & Wien

Vienna charmed me this time much more than during my first visit. Such a dynamic, open and lively place, reinventing itself constantly. Still at the forefront of change. Wiener should be proud of their city and themselves.

OK wow this is powerful

It speaks of the things I see when I wake up in the middle of the night and go to the kitchen for a glass of water and think oh my life is but a fever dream isn't it and it's the first literary work I read that does that

So extremely fed up with this
Seems like I catch something every time I travel with a plane. My body must really hate flying 😕

#10 Floating Points, Pharoah Sanders - Promises
(jazz/third stream)

A modern masterpiece. Nine seismic movements. The orchestra, electronics and Sanders' sax and voice take the listener into lands uncharted. The album made only more poignant by Pharoah Sanders' death only a year after its release.
May 24, 2025 at 10:12 PM
#11 Joanna Newsom - Have One On Me
(folk)

An ambitious beast, spanning three CDs, not only in length, but also in scope, blending historical figures, tales and personal stories. Her voice and poetry are at the front more often than her harp, over intrticate but subtle arrangements. Gorgeousness.
May 23, 2025 at 10:22 PM
#12 Bon Iver - i,i
(pop)

Not their most popular album nor even a fan favourite, i,i finds Justin Vernon at his most hopeful yet. Blending full on experimental music with pop and huge melodies, as on the single Hey, Ma, it's a forward-thinking (but still accessible), drenched in LSD piece of art.

It's the International Tea Day today. I didn't know when choosing the place of work today, but I chose well!
May 21, 2025 at 10:38 AM
I've made a list lately, but no notes or reviews. This is a good occasion to write some!
Also wow Rickenbackers are such pretty guitars.

Does anyone know where I could find calendars with a similar layout that don't cost a kidney?
May 17, 2025 at 7:42 PM
Three best things about that place?

The first is an absolute lack of any motorised vehicles in the wide area.

The second is that it's a 3.5h train ride + a 2h hike from my home.

The third is omg the PANCAKES

I spent the last extended weekend in a space outside of time, a magical meadow full of whispering wind and boreal cold, surrounded by kilometres of mountains and forests, the only building in the area being a refuge in a German wooden pre-war school.

I miss its enchanted silence already.

First tea shopping of 2025 and the freshest first flush Darjeeling Snowview from the local store!

Gdakon right after NFC destroyed me. I barely could enjoy the second con in a row and I'm not doing that ever again 🫠

I'm -finally- back home and I'm not moving anywhere from here for some time now. There's nothing I'm yearning more for than the boring everyday life.

Catch me and @slothpaw.bsky.social at NFC at our All About Furry Visual Novels panel!
We'll be talking a bit about the landscape before diving into the intricacies of making one. We'll also love to answer your questions about developing a VN or Dawn Chorus!!
