One of the upsides of our work building a new platform to help people collect, reflect on and share their digital memories is it has given me the reason to prioritise getting together my own collection. We are building in public, so learn more and sign-up to follow the journey at www.cronicle.site.
We are working on a project that will, amongst other things, help to preserve your digital memories and digital legacy. There seems to be so much happening with politics, getting by etc. How much do people stop to think about reducing their digital clutter and bringing order to digital memories?

After using more of ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude, started to use Gemini more. The Storybook option was one of the first things that came up.

Finally got around to finishing the second season of Silo. As a few people said to me, the pace did pick up more as it went along. Found the acting a little inconsistent, but looking forward to the next two seasons.

After about 32 years, including one triathlon and being the bike I used to tow my kid's chariot and then half-bike, need to make room in the shed and say goodbye to my workhorse of a bike.

A great article on how much wearables really help public health (ie not so much). Personally, I find my Garmin and ChatGPT really helpful with training and motivation. I'm obviously one of those people who likes the data and structure they can bring.

Wearables Aren't Going to 'Make America Healthy Again'
We need a functioning public health system, not an ad campaign for smartwatches.

Researching journalling to help with the design of the cronicle app we are building, and random thought is how many people now use Bluesky (or other social media for that matter) as essentially their only journal.

Reminded how important it is to be thinking carefully about the ethics of AI. Someone looking to set-up an AI that will seek to persuade users of a particular POV. The POV is already polarised but arguable and nuanced, so is it just another example of creating echo chambers?

Had a reason to look up Australia's Federal Government net debt position. Reminded that it was a net lender before the Global Financial Crisis hit (and corresponding stimulus package) and steadily increasing since then. Improving since COVID but still around 20% of GDP now.

techcrunch.com/2025/06/05/x... Good to see some constructive thinking on reducing echo chambers on social media. If nothing else will be interesting to see the results.

And also interestingly media and telco at the bottom.
The gas industry has had higher profit margins than ANY other sector in Australia over the last few years.

That's unsurprising when you know how little tax they pay. A THREAD (1/5)

Also, a consideration for social media as well.

Working on some research on social media and digital storage. Reminded how important curation of all our digital memories are, but the key is being able to do that curation quickly and easily. Don't know if others feel the same way though.

Other countries tax their oil and gas industries. Australia subsidies ours.

Our research found while gas prices boomed in 2022, LNG companies made windfall gains of up to $40 billion. PRRT take increased by less than $1 billion.

It's time to fix the tax loopholes that Big Gas exploits. #auspol

Something I think about a bit.
Modern AI brings new opportunities for science and education—but only if we teach both students and educators how to use it. We failed with social networks and can’t afford to fail again. 🧪 #AcademicSky
