Muppet forgot her digiscoping adapter when twitching so hand-held digiscoping was necessary. #ntdunwichheath #redtailedshrike lovely bird when it sat up on top. Bridge camera images were OK too. Saw the Bempton bird but this was local enough to get to and safe walking too

A mini break to North Wales last weekend. No joy on a known lek due to a father&son having hiked right across the centre just as I arrived! Got what I think is a female black grouse (wingbar?) on a recently cut/burned bit of moor. Goshawk nearby too. Opinions please. Bad pics!

County tick at Broadstairs this evening. Good views - bad video - Scops Owl - apparently the first for Kent since 1971... before my twitching career started!

Slightly better pics sorted out. Given how incredibly flighty this little guy was, I am amazed how a bridge camera can get ok record shots

Just got the news of the Yellow Warbler at New Hythe before I left work. Thanks for getting news out so fast or I'd have been tied up till boxing day. Not best but most interesting back of camera shots. #ukbirding my no. 473 before I lose some the lumping next year

Day off to Dungeness and a Hume's in the Obs garden was lively. Sat still for a second long enough to get this though 😊 I'll take it!

Quick escape to use up leave & my second Northern lights encounter. More green than pink. Bit of birding too as always - Taiga Beans at Slamannan. Otter and mountain hare seen - low cloud hid ptarmigan so far... rain tomorrow so sea-duck seems best bet

First clear evening I could go out since this comet turned up. Various attempts to photograph it but the camera wouldn't take long enough exposure. Showed ok on the screen so phone pic of that instead. Where there's a will...

Finally got to see an aurora. Not as great as some photos I've seen but this was North Kent just 51°N and with light pollution from offshore turbine farm and Essex! Previous attempts all wrong cloud cover or just not able to get out to clearer views 🌈🌌
