I know I'm in a minority, but I hope he sticks with it. There's plenty of other ways for him to be creative, and I for one am looking forward to reading his novels and watching movies made from his scripts, as well as the inevitable TV series he'll do once he finds himself dying to direct again.

Oh shit! Now he's busting out a half-decent French-Canadian accent too.

Surprised to see Moore back so soon, but glad to see it.

On one of these visits we stumbled upon the Prince Charles, and we felt we'd discovered a hidden little gem. A cineast's temple. The first show we caught there was Fargo and to this day I've kept the ticket stub, as a memento of that visit and indeed all those London trips. Good times. (2/2) #cinema

It's times like this I wish I lived more nearby. All through the nineties and early 2000s, my dad and I would go to London for a long weekend once or twice a year. We'd shop for fun things, go to great pubs, and watch some good movies. (1/2)

It's a crime that @doublefine.com's Keeper didn't get a nod, hopefully it'll be honoured in some other categories.

Out of those, I'd prefer Clair Obscur to get the win.

Honourable mention:

Wes Craven's New Nightmare

Love that movie.

I also like how it avoids the tropes of the genre, while still staying true to it and not feeling like a whole new take and reinvention. It makes the whole film feel new and exciting, yet familiar and comfortable. A nice mix.

Definitely check it out if you're a fan of the first one, or the genre.

Follow-up:

The pantheon of sequels out-shining their predecessors is fairly small, but Black Phone 2 has earned a place.

It's more ambitious in pretty much every way. Most obviously in its visuals, but also with its story structure.

That's great. It's my favourite movie of all time. I love spotting its cultural footprints like this.

It's my understanding that the bottle cap is attached to the bottle not so much to prevent someone from losing the cap, but for environmental reasons. If it's attached to the bottle, the likelihood of the cap ending up in the trash or recycling instead of in nature is much higher.

Man, you weren't kidding. Just finished watching, and that stretch of 14 through 17 was something else. Well worth it, even though I already knew would end up on top in the end. Thanks again.

Thanks for the heads-up. I wasn't able to watch it live, and since I know the ultimate result I wasn't sure I'd get around to catching the post coverage. But I'll for sure make time for it now.
