When you enter the main hall at Wat Mangkon in Bangkok's Chinatown, you are usually drawn to the ceiling lined with red lanterns. That's a shame because if you look down, you might also spot the majestic floral patterns drawn across the temple floor. #bangkok

On the first day back in Bangkok, I went to Erawan Shrine by Chit Lom Station in downtown, to capture the people's expressions of faith. Here, a lady in a colorful scarf approaches the shrine with a tray of flower offerings. #bangkok

Reading Japanese Pilgrimage, Oliver Statler’s travelogue of his Shikoku Pilgrimage (四国巡礼) across 88 temples to honor Kobo Daishi (弘法大師). Like Statler, I too have a temple-stamp album. I’ve read a Japanese book on the proper etiquettes at sacred sites. Maybe I will go on this pilgrimage.
