To describe me in a T. S. Eliot line: "I read, much of the night, and go south in the winter."
When you enter the main hall at Wat Mangkon in Bangkok's Chinatown, you are usually drawn to the ceiling lined with red lanterns. That's a shame because if you look down, you might also spot the majestic floral patterns drawn across the temple floor. #bangkok

On the first day back in Bangkok, I went to Erawan Shrine by Chit Lom Station in downtown, to capture the people's expressions of faith. Here, a lady in a colorful scarf approaches the shrine with a tray of flower offerings. #bangkok

Reading Japanese Pilgrimage, Oliver Statler’s travelogue of his Shikoku Pilgrimage (四国巡礼) across 88 temples to honor Kobo Daishi (弘法大師). Like Statler, I too have a temple-stamp album. I’ve read a Japanese book on the proper etiquettes at sacred sites. Maybe I will go on this pilgrimage.

This election result isn't about Dem messaging.

Kamala Harris and Tim Walz formed a balanced ticket filled with character, intellect, and genuine love for this country, and they delivered their vision beautifully and eloquently.

Last December, after meeting the Burmese refugees and activists at the Thai-Burma border, I felt inspired to write an article to tell their stories. This December, I will be back in Thailand again to collect more stories to tell. www.irrawaddy.com/opinion/gues...
