Yes. Takes a cunning linguist to resolve.

Same with Star Wars. The special editions- not going to get into merits or complaints- just aren't what I loved when I saw the movie during the initial release. And I would love to see _that_ movie again.

And that one line trim turned out to fuck with me for decades.

The computer says "Pod Secure." Got to the point where I figured I must have hallucinated it, or some wag said it to be funny in the theater. Then I saw part of the extended version- which, WHY?!?- and there the line was. SO many edits, so many versions.

I'm drifting off topic a bit, but there is a point. I saw Star Trek:The Motion Picture during the initial release. Then I saw it streaming on HBO, I think- and eventually got it on home video. ALL of which were missing a line that I clearly remembered. When Mr Scott docks the transfer pod.

I am just stunned,

Which never got done. New boss has decided to greenlight the same idea- and assigned it to someone else to work on.

Greenlit the project. I got version one done, had a scheme to keep it up to date, etc. It _worked_. IT decided they didn't want to run it. I indicated that I would run it. They said they did not have space. I said it could run from a thumbdrive. They said they were building something better.

Move forward to the current job. They hired someone to build a document database. It did not work out. Our IT department was tasked with it- they were understaffed and made it a low priority. So I built a wiki- another demonstration. Corporate leadership saw it, the number two executive love it.

Which was funny. As in the job prior to that, and listed on my resume, was extensive work documenting and creating manuals for two software packages- as well as website work. As in I had documented experience doing exactly what i had just done for them.

Not me. Good evaluations, good reviews, built the damned thing in the first place- but no. Not enough experience.

Handsome couple, as ever. Happy Pride to you as well.

Aside from the whole "Me no think for self, just want to be cog in machine" aspect? They have a staff. To whom they can delegate. Thousand pages? a couple hundred per staffer, write me a precis.

I'm competing with anyone out there facing a blank page with nothing but an idea. I am coming for you, by the way. AND I WILL TAKE MY TIME!

Pure age versus youth, my relationship with her, romantic, sexual, young, versus them making crude joikes and wishing over coffee and a fritter.

Doughnut shop in Lincoln, long since torn down. Woman I loved worked there in the mornings, during college. Used to sit there and wait for her- and all the old men would glare at me for it. They'd plaster on looks of bovine innocence until she turned her back, but they would shoot menace at me.

It was where my family went for lunch during Christmas shopping, or for an easy dinner after a movie.
