This morning, I thought the ducklings might have fledged because we couldn't find them in their usual spot. But no, they just traded up to the rose garden!! 🌱🇳🇿 #nzbirds

Toni received a brand new box today today and she's so excited 😅🇳🇿🐱

I nearly didn't recognise the pūtangitangi family this morning because they're just so Big! Plus they were in a different spot. I think one or two still look vaguely striped if you squint. Love the old toddle-toddle-plop #nzbirds

I fear my apricot is about to look like the broom and kānuka down at the Nuggets (if you look closely, the apricots themselves are doing a miraculous job of hanging on).

*Only Papatuanuku herself is allowed to judge my weeds. 🌱🇳🇿

And here are the pūtangitangi! This morning they were drifting in and out of cuddle puddle mode, between grazing. They absolutely love harassing each other but also cuddling #nzbirds
I bet that spot of ground they all lay in gets so warm 😂😂

Duckposting. First, the non pūtangitangi ducks of the park. There are several little clans. This first enthusiastic little chap by the carpark was so cute with mum lolloping along behind 😂 #nzbirds
There's a sweet grey teal duckling too.

Eddie has kindly edited my duckposting video down to a single minute so you can watch the little darlings waking up! We caught them just in time this morning, snuggled in one of the rhododendron beds. Dad's method of getting them out of bed is um. Not subtle. #nzbirds

Here's sweet little Goldie and their normal coloured sibling, plus mum. Pin feathers coming on, some would say this is their ugly stage 😂 I'm so relieved to find Goldie safe and sound, I'm really hoping to see them grow to adulthood so I can keep track of that luscious plumage. #nzbirds

Here's a video of Dad on lookout. I've never seen him there before; did he get the idea of parking up there because I filmed the whole family from there yesterday while he meeped at me? Bless. Isn't he just gorgeous too, those FEATHERS #nzbirds
Goldie next!

Duckposting and more to come haha. We saw wee Goldie this morning and they're getting into fledge stage too!
Next video: what Daddy Parry was up to while these chappies had swimming practice (he's so beautiful 🥹). #nzbirds

Here go our little pūtangitangi chicks (actually not that little now) hopping in for an early swim this morning. Mum got in with them a bit later on; Dad stayed on the bank keeping watch. Love how the last one is a bit reluctant 😂🥹 #nzbirds

And ofc we also found our pūtangitangi fam, down the other end of the park. Look how very dark they are at the moment! Stripes still hanging on but only just. These two parents are so conscientious 🥹 hope I get to see them raise another clutch next year. Or maybe some of the chicks will! #nzbirds

Okay this was lovely hahaha. It's raining this morning and there were very few other people in the gardens. But of course, many ducks including these two naughty ones in the fountain 😂😂 These are pūtangitangi but not MY pūtangitangi. I think they had, and lost, a smaller clutch of chicks #nzbirds

Duckposting!! Here's a little cut together compilation of our encounters today. They were so grotty getting out of the pond hahahaha. Thy are such characters. Adult feathers really showing up now in big patches. #nzbirds I feel so lucky that they let me lay in their midst and film.
