I continue to be indignant about my favorite musicians having finite life spans. #Mani

Sharknado was a hit!

@legendarypinkdots.bsky.social played a stellar show at Beat Kitchen in Chicago, supporting their latest album "So Lonely in Heaven." (My favorite track is Blood Money.) Met @qaspel.bsky.social after the show, and he was a sweetheart.

Last year, I broke my leg in 3 places. 8 weeks ago, I started a run training program for the first time. Today, I ran my first ever 5K!

"Dreamer" was our class prom song. Not my favorite track he did, but it still brings a smile to my face that my entire high school class elected to walk out to Ozzy. 🥀🦇🤘🏻

Any examples out there of oboe used in punk/post-punk music? Peter Murphy's "A Strange Kind of Love" has some sort of synth oboe/English horn. I don't know of others, unless I loosen the genre parameters and include Roxy Music, Genesis, and R.E.M.

Gang of Four was SO GOOD. Energy was 10000%. My legs still hurt four days later from all the jumping and dancing. Ted Leo and Gail Greenwood had big shoes to fill, and they were marvelous. I felt they honored Andy and Dave, and complemented Jon and Hugo well. Bucket list show for me.

Farewell, Mike Peters. I so deeply enjoyed the Alarm show at Turner Hall in 2019. He fought one hell of a battle.

Happy to support @irvingplacerecords.bsky.social any day, not just on RSD. Also, cheers to the folks I chatted up in line. Glad we all found what we were hoping to get!

So disappointed with bands releasing entirely AI-generated music videos (Looking at you, Pulp and Stereolab.) They feel stripped of humanity & connection, especially for someone like me who found community through music/visual arts collaborations. We don't want this! I'll pay my attention elsewhere.

Was in a MKE record store yesterday. Found a few in the pre-owned bins. As I was rifling through a stack, a man came up and actually tried to take my records out of my hand. When I said, "What are you doing?!" he claimed he didn't know I'd already selected these records that were IN MY HAND.

I got to see the iconic Kylie Minogue! Finally, after 26 years of waiting! My favorite part was when she departed from the set list and took audience requests. There was even a lovely acapella version of Where the Wild Roses Grow. (Also, note to self: find a sparkly red jumpsuit.)

Iggy Pop at the Salt Shed in Chicago last night. Rocked out next to a man who could have been my grandpa, and I definitely want to be him when I grow up.

Been curling my hair for 30 years, but that's the first time I've dropped the hot iron on myself. 2nd degree burns on my boob and my leg. Stoked to be learning new tricks in my advanced age.

Voice actors and the great work they do have always been deeply meaningful for me. George Lowe was a cornerstone of my formative years, on Cartoon Planet and Space Ghost Coast to Coast. I had the pleasure of meeting him, and he was incredibly gracious and (of course) hilarious. Farewell, George. 💔
