If only prices were up according to this chart. Since this time last year, Coffee and beef have doubled - that’s 100%. Brand name chips were $3 a bag. Now $5. That’s 67%.

Their offspring will eventually return back to my area again in the fall! Their only host plant is milkweed. I have lots of it waiting for them.

The fall Monarchs in 8a come from Canada and northern states, lay eggs on host plants and then die. They live about 2 weeks. Their offspring will live about 8 months. They fly 2000 miles to central Mexico, where they overwinter. In the spring they start the journey back to Canada laying eggs.

I am also 8a. The swallowtails lay eggs on host plants and the caterpillars overwinter as a chrysalis. I have 18 overwintering. They will emerge in spring. The fritillaries fly to the gulf coast and Fl. The Monarch’s lay eggs in our zone and the resulting butterflies go to Mexico!
