I am convinced that the NYT is a right wing propaganda machine masquerading as a vaguely left or center outlet. It is either articles "just asking questions" in a way to promote right wing bullshit, or opinions saying to stop protesting a fascist president.

I would really love it if mainstream journalists would seriously consider the possibility that RFK Jr.'s politicized HHS under Trump is as accurate about gender-affirming medicine as it is on autism or vaccination.

They will try to end ALL gender affirming care by threatening federal funding to organizations offering it. Even though they'll likely cut that funding ANYWAY because they're literally cutting funding willy nilly. Out of fear, orgs will comply. This is authoritarianism.

The Trump Administration Threat To Transgender Adult Care Is Growing At Lightning Speed
Many transgender adults have wondered when their care would be banned by the Trump administration. Now, we are seeing the first vectors to do so.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia lived in Maryland with his wife and their three children, and has never been charged with any crime.

The Department of Homeland Security issued him a work permit, and he joined a union, working full time as a sheet metal apprentice.

During my consumption boycott I've thought about two things.
1. Do I want to stimulate Trump's economy? No.
2. I can cope with inconvenience. I don't NEED free 2 day shipping, or to go to a big box store. I can drive a little further out to the local or more ethical store. I CAN so I SHOULD.

1. They never learn.

The US Department of Education has launched a snitch line for reporting "divisive ideologies" in schools.

Previously, states doing this were flooded with meme submissions.

Remember when you see Trump's approval numbers most people who vote for people like Trump either don't actually follow news/politics or they watch misinformation media so they are approving based on ~vibes~. When asked about his policies (without naming him), they usually disapprove. Sigh.

There is a big difference between needing to overhaul/update/repair departments and completely nuking them with no back up plan and leaving millions of people in the lurch. Those who say "Burn It Down!" are rarely close enough to the fire to feel the real heat.

Since I'm contacting my Reps every day asking them to openly protect trans people and stop Republicans dismantling the government, I also throw in a little "STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT ELON MUSK ON HIS PLATFORM. GO ELSEWHERE." Like the irony is just too much to bear.

Incredible news!

The Trump administration's under 19 trans care ban has been BLOCKED in federal court via a bench temporary restraining order.

The administration CANNOT withhold funds from hospitals providing trans youth care.

98% of NIH grants that should have gone out this month, didn't. Despite court orders 'unfreezing' the funds, they are frozen. Biomedical research will grind to a halt. Clinical trials will end. All for no reason: the total impact on the US budget is miniscule

This is rage-inducing...

1. Progressive movement builds
2. Reactionary and right wing voices incite a backlash based on strawmen and bad faith fearmongering
3. Backlash goes too far; bad shit happens
4. Reactionary and right wing voices blame progressives
First, the activist ‘overreach’ mostly consisted of low-stakes, cherry-picked anecdotes. The police were not defunded. Words were not banned. White men were not barred from college.

The backlash is responding to the *possibility* of social change, not actual change.

Hearing that DOGE went into the Dept of Education today and shut down almost the entirety of the department's in-house research arm, Institute of Educational Sciences, cancelling contracts totally about $900m.

Trump's flurry of anti-trans executive orders is justified as "protecting women."

In reality, they are an attack on all women and girls, cis and trans. They make sexual abuse easier. And they're targeting research into women's health care for defunding.

The most bizarre tic of American media is its ability to acknowledge reality but refusal to draw any conclusions from it.

If Republicans are constantly lying about their agenda, that should be the core of your political coverage! Both-sides stories are useless when one side isn't trustworthy.
