Elon Musk’s plan to cut $2 trillion a year would mean a 33% cut to every program in the budget including Medicare and Social Security.

If you protect Medicare, Social Security, and veterans from the cut, it becomes a 62% cut to every other program in the budget.

This has not broken me, but it has stopped me in my tracks and made me think about how easily some purported journalists would just go along with whatever transpires in the coming weeks, months, and years.

Here’s one of my main takeaways: the point of governing is to make people’s lives better, but the point of politics - especially campaigns - is to give people a story about who to blame for things sucking. It’s a real mistake to confuse one for the other, as I have often done!
