Unfortunately the usa is pretty bad at this and didn't commit to getting rid of the KKK, proud boys, confederates, or any of the white nationalist/far right/facist parties in the last century. Instead they entirely focused on "communists" and leftists.

I think the chance of election interference isn't 0, but I don't think it's impossible for them to have won as they did considering how many people didn't vote. 40% of the country not even turning up means nearly half of Americans didn't even participate in the first place, and that's the norm
