Thanks Martin, that sounds plausible. It is strange that I have never been aware of this variation with all the Peacock nests I have recorded over the years. I will keep an eye on them and see if they turn black in due course.

Just a couple so far. Sue had one at Fenny Compton and there was one at Knowle both on 6th June.
