The newly elected ReformUK Council in Lincs has hit on a novel way to overcome flooding in one of the country’s most prone counties - abolish the committee responsible for monitoring & co-ordinating responses. No mechanism for reporting floods = no floods. Simple!

If Starmer had focused last week’s U.K. elections on the damage to the economy from Trump’s tariffs & placed the blame on Trump’s mate Farage the outcome may have been different. He needs to learn from Canadian & Aussie progressive parties.

The concern I have with the Assisted Dying Bill is that the rich & powerful in the U.K. will find ways to exploit it for their financial gain yet unthought of. If passed will need to be carefully monitored with particular regard to diagnosis, geographical areas & locations of deaths.

Great to see the President of Mexico standing up to Trump’s bullying tactics. We need Canadian & EU leaders to follow likewise. As Merkel found out you cannot compromise with Trump - he has to win. The free world needs to develop alliances that make a Trump US increasingly irrelevant.

Over 4 weeks later it remains totally beyond me how US voters could have returned a serial bankrupt, multiple felon, sex pest & insurrection instigator to the White House. Do they suffer from amnesia or are they just simply dim?

This is Trump’s honeymoon period. He can make outrageous Cabinet appointments & inflammatory statements without consequence. Let’s see what happens when the rehearsals cease & the real performance starts. Will US voters take to diktat govt from Washington?
