Silent Hill 2 is a classic, but i think i kind of prefer the stand-alone story and atmosphere of the very first game the best. A really wretched and evil vibe that they never hit on in that exact way ever again. The otherworld segments in SH1 are truly some of the scariest shit ever.

chants of sennaar was absolutely phenomenal. a lingustics-themed adventure game in the vein of myst crossed with tunic crossed with return of the obra dinn. fantastic music, beautiful use of a very minimal color palette, absolutely top notch puzzle design. this game deserves a lot more buzz.
