Anybody else feel like tonight’s Northern Lights show is a “come together moment of amazement” like the solar eclipse?

Here’s one of my best 3sec iPhone pictures from Brown County, Indiana. VERY visible with the naked eye too!

Sometimes I watch the deer, and sometimes the deer watch me.

Sunday morning coffee view. Life is good on The Farm.

Pedaled around on the pond this morning before it got too hot. Finding happiness even when it’s hard. 🇺🇸

Sometimes you look out the window at The Farm and you see something other than rabbits and squirrels. Often, actually.

Yup, it’s a bleeding heart. Me too.

Nice! We have similar snowshoes! So much fun for trekking in the snowy woods.

Didn’t go anywhere today because the roads were going to get bad at 10am … or 1pm … or 3pm …. Still waiting at 7pm.🙂

No worries. We have a well-stocked fridge and pantry. Tonight’s dinner: chicken and vegetable stir fry and cream cheese & green onion wontons. All homemade. Team effort.😋

A glorious and unseasonably warm day in the high 60s at The Farm. After stomping around some in our own woods and doing a bit of trail maintenance, we headed over to nearby Brown County State Park for some more exercise. Retirement life is good!

At “The Farm” today. Shoveled some space at the end of the lane to get our SUV off the road, then carried things in to the house from there. Driving in was definitely not feasible. Enjoying new toys in our winter wonderland. Retirement life is good.😊

Made chocolates today at The Farm. Chocolate-covered peanut butter balls (marked with a peanut), chocolate mocha “truffles,” and peanut clusters just made to use up the extra dipping chocolate. Shown on a plate with a tree motif … because that’s what our dishes (and our woods!) look like here.

Day 11 of the countdown.

One day trip to The Farm. Really looking forward to more of this.

Day 24 … retirement countdown.

Trimming a tiny tree with tiny ornaments at The Farm. Hallmark antique tractors series: 2004.

Day 25 - retirement countdown.

Long day yesterday. Slept in a bit then headed to The Farm. Beautiful weather. Sunny, high around 45°F. Planted 3 bare root/dormant Allegheny Serviceberry shrubs—basically sticks. Two near our pond and one on the edge of woods near our driveway. Can’t wait for spring!

Day 28 … counting down.

Received my latest personalized license plate. I’m clearly not quite over the trauma of “the divorce.” IYKYK. 😂

Day 30 … counting down.

When you’re retiring, you do lots of sorting and cleaning in your office. Stumbled across this book today. Gift from the author who was a colleague of mine back in the 1990s. Collected this spectrum for him for his book. 🙂 Please be kind all of you actual spectroscopists.

Day 31 counting down.

Today’s highlight: sandhill cranes. You always hear them before you see them! Location: Indianapolis, Indiana.

When the house at The Farm has a fireplace with antlers, you definitely have to decorate them for the holidays! 🦌 🎅🏻 🎄

Made it home. 😅 Note the license plate. Still repping chemistry and Higher Ed. Chem C101 forever.

Weather station up and running! This location was about the best I could do. Open area within reach of home internet and a preexisting post to attach it to. Now if we can just get some measurable rain!

I’m pretty flexible … but nothing like this guy’s neck!

I was like … cool gift idea for chemists and biologists. Parafilm comes in a dispenser box. Are there others?

Tales from The Farm. If you drove around or moved this sign, you’re probably at the wrong address, and you also ignored the green 911-style address marker at the end of the driveway.🙄

In my ongoing quest (across various platforms) to drive followers away with worthless content, here’s what I’ve done today: I cleaned out the remaining tomato plants from our 6 large containers and planted each with clearance-priced tulips.🌷 Now I need lunch and a nap.
