Agree with @kairyssdal.bsky.social , disagree with politics editors at @nytimes.com , on this one.

Trump was yelling out *lies* at a frantic, machine-gun pace last night. A "first rough draft of history" account of this moment should make that cler.
I honest to Pete don’t understand the aversion to saying he lies. (Don’t give me the whole oh-we-don’t-know-his-intent malarkey)

I wasn’t going to write this now. It’s what writers and editors would call an evergreen topic. But James Carville made a small sensation with his New York Times op-ed, yesterday. And now I can’t help myself. New post. (Gift link in the post.)

New Post:
... maybe this moment is merely a blip in the march of authoritarianism in our country. Maybe the regime and its allies will use their legitimate fear of this moment to patch up their divisions, tamp down some of the crazy, and fight harder.

So now’s NOT the time to sit back and relax

He’s talking about the left hand, right? “I don’t know where that hand’s been.”

He must know how uncomfortable grabbing that hand would make someone in Arab culture. And then, make it worse by commenting.

Or, it’s deep pandering.

I’m curious what people who know Arab culture say about this.
totally normal. nothing to see here.

NYT has an important story about the treatment of the men deported to the prison in El Salvador.

BUT, it like so many media reports about deportations conflates criminal accusations with convictions. They are NOT the same and should be treated differently.

Do they hear themselves?

I support a national strike to force House Republicans to put back the healthcare cuts in their budget.
I support a national strike against the decision to send National Guard troops to stop the protests in LA.

ah, perhaps instead of pumping millions into endless factional infighting Dem donors could invest in making local Dem organizations genuine civic spaces that can reach people during and between elections

Serious question: how much did the shut down motivate voters in yesterday’s elections?
November 5, 2025 at 7:47 PM
SUPER PROUD of voters in CA, NJ, NYC and VA!

And here are reasons why we can’t slow our roll after yesterday’s wins:

* All of these wins were in strong Dem or at least Dem-leaning areas. We have to be able to win in MAGA-leaning areas in 2026.

I support a national, general strike until Republicans in Congress agree to extend the otherwise expiring ACA tax credits.

More strikes will be needed before we can force the fascists to back Dow completely. So why not take this moment to start building strikes as a tactic?

Hey #NoKings, are we sticking with yellow as our color?

I want a quick easy way to show my opposition to the fascists when I'm in public. Will you see me if I wear a yellow bandana? Will you wear some yellow, so I can see you?

The President said some things today -- without evidence -- and we, the Fourth Estate, reported that he said them.

We were afraid to call them lies, because he might come after us.

So anyone who wants to, can just go ahead and believe the lies.

Will they keep sticking by their corporate-power-oriented donors, or start delivering for their people?
