He had his first chemo infusion yesterday, and again, did not let that phase him. He took the opportunity to run in the backyard for the first time when he got home. He didn’t care that he was at the vet all day, he was just happy to be home with his family. There’s a lesson there somewhere.

We received good news the other day, and his sub-type of cancer is a rare form of the bone cancer that only accounts for about 10% of all cases. It’s less aggressive, more reactive to chemo, and may double the time we have left with him. Needless to say, we’re all relieved and hopeful.

Axel is an absolute warrior, and was walking less than a day after his operation. His personality is returning more and more every day, in no small part to his Giants themed @pitchingninja.bsky.social swag. He doesn’t care that he’s missing a leg, he’s just happy to see us every day.

He was recently diagnosed with osteosarcoma, an aggressive bone cancer that doesn’t carry a great prognosis without amputation and chemotherapy. Needless to say, we are ready for a fight. Axel had his right front arm amputated on Halloween, and has been recovering at home ever since.

Axel is a 10 year old German Shepherd who has been my best friend, guardian, and nanny. He’s truly a part of our family.

Hi everyone! Excited to be here. Not sure where to start on this app, so I’m going with a story about my dog and my hero, Axel.
