In my experience most people who initiate small talk really just love to hear themselves talk so I just keep responses that could expand conversation minimum but I'll actively listen.
I see the responses. Adding for clarity. I’m a yapper…when there’s something of substance or interest to discuss. I know how to small talk, I just despise it and think silence is the better option. The societal expectation is to participate in it, I’m asking if anyone has figured out how to do that
