Just another Edmontonian
I don’t know how much impact it has but you can report dangerous intersections on the 311 app (oddly only for MUPs).

The main problem is that the standards just aren’t good enough.

Will the new traffic safety team be able to enforce all of these traffic infractions?
November 21, 2025 at 2:16 PM
I tossed those up to NIMBYism. That area seems to be swarming in Save Yeg signs

It also looks like Knack won the area where the Capital line is going out past the Henday. Voters reward LRT expansion.

So where did Cartmell win?

Areas with restrictive covenants and car dependant suburbs.

Even the “controversial” 132 ave bike lane didn’t push everyone towards Cartmell. That area contains as much blue as green.

Traffic on the west end seems to have had no impact. Why was there so much news coverage?

No raised crossing at 76 ave and 96 st is odd when they put them almost everywhere else. That area gets a lot of pedestrians.

Also why only one speed table and a flashing light to cross in the ravine?

The path I used
November 18, 2025 at 3:54 PM
Too much of the infrastructure in the ward relies on unlit paths. I used this unlit gravel path to get to the traffic safety meeting. Mainly because I find the MUP along Callingwood unsafe.

South or west would require you to bike through unlit ravines.

Unfortunately the only real change will be the 4 speed humps on Edgemont boulevard. Doesn’t feel like enough.

The thing I heard the most from speakers was that the city doesn’t respond to complaints fast enough.

The budget needs to be raised for safe streets programs.
November 18, 2025 at 3:31 PM
City plans to up enforcement. Both with a new department and by requesting 19 speed cameras.

IMO everyone involved knows they are failing at vision zero. They are working towards improving but not as fast as I’d hope.

They do plan to widen a road though
November 18, 2025 at 5:19 AM
The street lab planned in the location of the fatality is pretty underwhelming. A few speed bumps and a stop sign.

No neighbourhood wide plan
November 18, 2025 at 5:19 AM
I tried to summarize all your points and added some of my own ward specific questions.
November 17, 2025 at 9:59 PM
If anyone has questions for Thu add them too. I already have a few issues with the infrastructure in that ward I’m planning to bring up.

“Around 9 a.m. MT Saturday, a 2024 Nissan Rogue travelling southbound on 82nd Street, near the Mayliewan neighbourhood in the city's north side, turned left onto 153rd Avenue and struck the pedestrian, who was walking her dog northbound across 153rd Avenue on a marked crosswalk.”
