A response from the office of Evan Solomon: Thank you for reaching out to share your concerns regarding recent reports of deepfake images generated by the artificial intelligence chatbot Grok on the social media platform X. I want to be clear: deepfake sexual abuse is violence. Canadians should be able to participate online without fear that their image will be misused or manipulated without consent, particularly women and young people. Platforms and AI developers have a responsibility to take reasonable steps to prevent this kind of harm. Our government is continuing to advance the responsible development and use of artificial intelligence in Canada. A key part of this work is Bill C-16, which would amend the Criminal Code to clarify that non-consensual deepfake intimate images are treated as intimate images for the purposes of the offence of publication without consent. This legislation would strengthen protections for victims and help ensure that those who misuse these technologies are held accountable. In addition, the government is working on new online harms legislation focused on improving platform safety and accountability, as well as updated data and privacy protections that would give Canadians more control over how their personal data is used in the digital environment. Technology companies and AI developers must take responsibility for the tools they create and ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to prevent harm. Our focus remains on protecting Canadians, enforcing the law, and ensuring digital technologies are used in a way that is safe and responsible. Thank you again for taking the time to write. Dear Evan Solomon,I'm inquiring as to what your government plans to do to combat the spread of sexual harassment and abuse facilitated by X and GrokAI. It should not go unnoticed that some of the most vulnerable people in our society—primarily women and children—are being victimized daily on X. No one deserves to be sexualized publicly and non-consensually, and there's absolutely no way our country should accept that there's a readily available platform for producing child sexual abuse material (CSAM). I look forward to hearing your plans for this soon, as any type of delayed or noncommittal response will result in potentially hundreds, if not thousands, more people—primarily women and children—being the victims of sexual harassment and abuse. Trump's action recalls the Monroe Doctrine, set out in 1823 by then-president James Monroe, laying U.S. claim to influence in the region, as well as the "gunboat diplomacy" seen under Theodore Roosevelt in the early 1900s. The U.S. has not made such a direct intervention in its backyard region since the invasion of Panama 37 years ago to depose military leader Manuel Noriega over similar allegations to those directed against Maduro. In the Panama case, Noriega ended up in prison for 20 years.

A paragraph from a recent article from The Line, which reads: I’ve seen this firsthand in my own field of history. For an article I submitted to a top journal on the debate over renaming Toronto’s Dundas Street, three different peer review experts thought it was irrelevant to mention the wider history of slavery in Africa before and after the Atlantic slave trade and amongst Indigenous peoples in Canada. The peer reviewers didn’t question the truth of what I claimed. But they made it their “expert” opinion that such a topic was irrelevant and “off limits.” On the progressive part of the political spectrum, to mention the involvement of Africans or Indigenous peoples as slave traders themselves is seen to be in bad taste. It’s just not done. And so the public record is quietly edited by consensus. I highlighted the second sentence.

How can "actual consent" and "fear" can be compatible in any way? Unless you just straight up think E.M. is lying, which just reads like the worst misogynistic read of E.M.'s testimony. Hockey Canada is rotten to the core, and our justice system helps maintain that.

You can see both parties dip here in what I believe will be Singh's riding (unless things have changed?), but a much greater dip from the NDP. Pretty brutal look. Folks clearly aren't buying them as a viable alternative, or at the very least consider them the least interesting of 3 similar choices.

Not knocking the "Ford-lite" allegations easily when Liberal insiders are calling the Ontario election a "success." This isn't a novel take, but the LPC/OLPC's shamelessness about their love for the status quo is so tone-deaf and stupid.
