Back in the day I suggested synthetic carbohydrates and directed evolution to create a bioorthogonal strategy, wonder if anyone has been trying that. It seems horizontal gene transfer of the critical cassette is still an issue, though.

Polite pushback. Depends on the city and what the pedestrian/cyclist infrastructure is like. I run in the bike lanes where I live because I don't want to risk knocking over a ped or spend time/effort weaving around them, signs, etc. If a bike comes behind me and uses bell/honk, I make space.
