I teach high school African American Studies and AP Comp Sci. Louisiana GLTOY 2023. M.Ed in Ed Tech. Illness stopped MA in History. I am the second-best teacher and third-smartest person in my house. If we don’t count the cats.
I keep trying to find something to like about MSY, but I keep finding reasons not to.

Sometimes, the right song by a band that never gets played comes on when you need it.

We had a great week in Blue Ridge, Georgia, and surrounding areas. My little one is becoming a great traveling companion. However, our Nissan Rogue is probably ready to return to the flat lands of Louisiana.

Second part: We hiked as much as we could. However, @itsmrshargis.bsky.social has a boot on her foot, so we couldn't do as much as we wanted to on foot.

The first adventure in Blue Ridge, Georgia: Mercier Orchards. It has the best apple fritter I have ever tasted. Warm, soft, and crunchy 😋

Views for the next week! I'm not sure what's going on today besides prayers for the road going up and down the mountain.

I'm always amazed at all the activities available through the Girl Scouts. This fall, we learned science at a lighthouse, learned about democracy from a judge in our parish, attended a hockey game, and learned first aid. I'm so proud and lucky to be a Girl Scout dad!

This is “the haunted oak” that was used to lynch 23-year-old Claude Neal in Marianna, Florida, in 1934. No marker is present. News reporters from earlier in the decade are how I found it.

This is why I’m here now. I’m sure this guy is racist, but with blue checks incentivized for engagement, it doesn't matter. It’s not even a racist argument that you could counter with facts. It’s just engagement farming. They don’t care. I'm not here because of an echo chamber.
