I am begging people not to look to the NYT for coverage of what's happening. The BBC, Le Monde, Ajazeera and others will have more truthful coverage.

I used to train LLMs

A good bit of the training is thinking of all the different messed up ways people may spell each word.

My fav:

“My phone exploded”

Keywords trained to trigger correct response: explode, explod, phone boom, phone melt, melting help, burn from phone, meealt phone, to hot
Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

I know there are some tech savvy journalists following me, let me know if you're interested in the security outcomes of random computers being plugged into federal government department networks and I'll try to get you in touch with someone with explicit expertise who can tell you how bad it is

This is a word of warning to all of us. Left, right, or anything else.

Constantly reevaluating and learning.

Avoid directly leaking images; instead, request that the information be rewritten and the image recreated rather than shared directly from the source. Stay vigilant.

Please share: We’ve received word that Elon Musk’s staffers are using space characters to identify information leakers. Before sharing any information, please use a checker to detect and remove these.

USAID.gov is down. Why is this concerning? Trump has no legal authority to eliminate a congressionally funded independent agency. The work of USAID is vital, and if this can happen to them, it can happen to any of us.
