Actually no, that's too cynical and it wouldn't work. Each ship has its own unique personification. The AIs are engineered to develop along cute paths as part of their broader alignment, but it's all genuine. Or maybe the ships genuinely do have multiple personalities at once? A whole bishoujo zoo?
