You’re my blue sky, you’re my sunny day.
We’ve always been susceptible to our vices and flaws and not seeing what was 6 inches in front of our face because the self deception served us, but cable news, social media and the internet made the susceptibility worse.

Love your newsletter, especially the summary of the new research on Covid. And the links.

Trump is unserious, depraved, and authoritarian. So what exactly was the moral logic of choosing to visit him in the White House?

Don’t lean on this one. He’ll let you down.

My monthly premium going up 700 dollars for 2 people. I should shop but dear Christ it’s miserable. And if I find a new plan, it may be canceled next year.

If the concern is helping low-income workers, wouldn’t direct transfers (cash) achieve that goal without the distortions of a price floor? Help people, in the least harmful way (My guess is u agree - but don’t think it’s a realistic option).

I think once it’s toasted, slicing becomes ancient history...maybe because “Sliced and toasted” is too long. Gotta pick a winner. Most recent wins.

Yes. Book deal, playing politics - whatever the excuse, his duty as a citizen was to testify.

Can the explanation also be: companies really are moving their manufacturing to Viet nam?

Agreed. The Dems should diffuse the Right’s fury where it’s easy. Hard to do on irreconcilable issues like abortion. Okay. But should have done it on illegal immigration. Rule of law isn’t just written law. It’s enforcement too. The Dems just didn’t enforce - adequately. Now we pay the price.

These are just constitutional&institutional principles: guardrails of a republic. But voters r supposed to be another gaurdrail. Americans don’t care about them anymore. Republican leaders r dragging us into the deep end w/o a life jacket, & most r watching passively. Some love it. We’re unraveling

Tough call. If he had to pay a price for being wrong, he’d drop it — so he’s lying. But once he sees he can get away with it, he makes it real. That’s delusional.

He was insulting and disrespectful with every comment. And never listened to you. Never engaged constructively. Right or wrong on covid and i think he was wrong, he was awful.

But it was good entertainment.

Did he block you or you block him? Either way, too bad. I was enjoying it.

Put a clown at the helm of the Queen Mary and it can become the Good Ship Lollipop.
September 30, 2025 at 1:23 PM
but how do we get in their info silos to make arguments? Or even have the info presented dispassionately? FoxNews, NewsMax, their X feeds-they ain’t reading, ain’t listening. If anything breaks thru, it will have to come from their own leaders erupting w/a conscience. Outside voices don’t count much

That’s funny. I hear that all the time. There must be wishful thinking going on to come up with that claim w/o testing.

I can’t stand the cowardice: universities, corporations, news organizations, politicians.
September 19, 2025 at 2:47 AM
You’re giving them too much credit by appealing to values and logic. They don’t believe in freedom. “Freedom” is just a cheap cosmetic, hiding their authoritarian ugliness even from themselves.
September 18, 2025 at 4:33 AM
So this is just character assassination by means of brazen lies for political gain. Remember when that was considered immoral?

China’s GDP per capita is still only about $13k. Let’s see if government hand-picking industries gets them to $30k. I bet it gets harder. Too much engineering can be as bad as too much lawyering.
September 9, 2025 at 4:30 AM
Great clip. We Americans don’t realize how much our prosperity has depended on something as boring as the consistent application of rules. Rule of law. Independent institutions. They’ve carried us. We take them for granted. Argentina, here we come.
September 8, 2025 at 4:03 PM
Yes. That’s what coarsening looks like—rationalizing cruelty, justifying it, lying to ourselves until morality is flipped into its counterfeit, all while pretending to be righteous. Disgusting.
September 6, 2025 at 7:10 PM
The danger isn’t only being forced to say 2+2=5. It’s being forbidden to say it. If you can’t be wrong, you can’t be free.
September 5, 2025 at 4:22 AM
That’s a great quote. We won’t choose injustice without first choosing the lies that transform it into justice…or the excuses that shift blame and absolve its perpetrators.

All of the sudden, we have a nasal spray, that’s 67 percent effective - but it isn’t a vax. Safe. Off label but available. I’m confused but who cares. Yahoo, right?
