I did not think anything could move me from my longtime grudge against the NYT. But, grudgingly, the loss of sports and the fact that side by side the NYT definitely offers more news I am interested in reading than the WP now has so moved me and I have accordingly changed subscriptions 🙃

It is far and away the best Star Wars I have ever seen. It is also very close to real life, and tells the story of a man you know is going to die shortly after the series ends. Also, one of the (seriously) most interesting side plots is a romance between a Stazi officer and a fired rentacop

The Republic did not actually subdue Geonosis; most of its production and civilization was subterranean. They did not capture any important leaders, or impede production of the droid army. The best case for "victory" was that Obi-Wan and Anakin weren't among the appalling number of casualties
