I remain of the opinion AISD should deeply consider electric generation as a major component of a future bond.

I'm unaware of the legality/mechanics, but there's gotta be a way for aisd to buy the current generation they use from AE at a fair price. A win win for the district and city.

Every part of the Disney experience is incredibly accessibility focused. A significant portion of the customers utilized some form of assistance. A high percentage of rides are also incredibly accomodative.

Dear Austin ISD Family, We understand that conversations about school consolidation and boundary changes are deeply impactful to our community, and we appreciate your engagement throughout this process. Since sharing the initial draft plan on Oct. 3, we've been dedicated to listening. We've reviewed more than 7,200 pieces of feedback and engaged with thousands of staff and families at community meetings across the district. This updated plan is a direct result of that engagement. It's born from our commitment to active listening, testing hundreds of ideas and hours of thoughtful, student-centered discussions. Our community's input has been invaluable in making this plan stronger. Many of the changes in this updated plan are focused on easing transitions for our families. This includes newly proposed transfer and enrollment policies, updated boundaries and transportation accommodations. Key updates I want to highlight some of the most significant adjustments we've made, driven by your voices: • Boundary Adjustments: We have updated the proposed boundaries in 17 areas after careful review of community feedback and feasibility testing. Check out the updated school locator tool to see any proposed updates to your school assignments. • Transfer Updates • Guaranteed Placement for Transfer Students: Transfer students at a school proposed for closure or program change (including out-of- district students) will be guaranteed a spot to stay with their peers at the new receiving school(s). If a closed campus is split between multiple schools, transfer students will have the option to rank their preferred school. • Transfers for Staff & Siblings: Staff and sibling transfers will be automatically approved, unless a freeze on transfers is deemed necessary by the Superintendent. • Continuation Transfers (formerly called Grandfathering): In addition to allowing students to continue through the last grade level at their current school, we are expanding Continuation Transfers to now include rising sixth and ninth grade students whose feeder school has changed. This is an important step to ensure our families with fifth and eighth graders can complete their planned transition to their current feeder middle or high school without the challenge of changing campuses next year. • Transportation • Dual Language: Students who live in the current attendance zone of the schools transitioning to school-wide dual language programs would now receive transportation (Odom, Pickle, Sánchez, Wooten). • Montessori and Language Immersion: District-wide transportation will be provided for language immersion at Joslin ES and the Montessori program. • Stability for Pre-K: Our youngest learners in Pre-K will be allowed to continue at their current campus for the 2026-27 school year. New Transfer Process The district is updating the student transfer process to make it fairer and simpler for families. The new system will have three rounds: • Round 1: Program Applications Only (Early Spring 2026) • This round is exclusively for applications to special programs like magnets, dual language, fine arts, and Montessori. • No general transfer requests will be accepted in this round. • Round 2: General Transfers & Zoned Campus Enrollment (Mid- Spring 2026) • Students can enroll at their newly zoned campus during this round. @ • General transfers will be handled through a lottery system instead of first-come, first-served. @ • Round 3: Pre-K, Special Cases, & Zoned Campus Enrollment (Later in Spring 2026) • This round is for families with special situations, Pre-K applications, and continued enrollment at zoned schools. Grandfathering If a student's school is not closing but their address is rezoned to a different school, they have the option to stay at their current school. This is called "grandfathering." @ • Who is eligible? Any currently enrolled K-12 student whose school is not closing can apply to be grandfathered in. © • How it works: Families must apply for a transfer during the general enrollment period to be grandfathered. © Siblings: Siblings who are not currently enrolled in Austin ISD are not automatically grandfathered. They will have a higher priority for transfer but must follow the standard enrollment process. • Transportation: Transportation will not be provided for grandfathered students. The dates are October 14, October 16, October 27, and November 8, 2025. @ • November 20, 2025: The Board of Trustees is scheduled to have a final vote on the consolidation plan. ® • Post-November 20, 2025: If the plan is approved, the district will begin earnest transition planning. & • December 2025: Principals for the consolidated schools will be selected. ® Spring 2026 • Early Spring 2026: Round 1 of student enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year will begin. • Spring 2026: The district will work with families and staff to merge school communities.
