An insight I had a while back was that I am not part of the "we" for people who say "we" to reach across political disagreements. The person saying this doesn't see me as a party to the conversation, they see me as an object of unpleasant, unnecessary division.

I actually don't think that's it. I think certain privileged white people are angry that others of their ilk prefer spaces that include us than in spaces that have run us out. They see it as a betrayal that our voices would be valued by people who they feel ought to sensibly abandon us to our fate.

I think it's smart to recognize your limitations in both understanding and processing new information tbh. I think that's different from straight up knowing and understanding and responding "I could do something to help fix this situation but have chosen not to."

You reduce it to "all different perspectives" but fail to understand that some of those perspectives are absolutely abhorrent and lead them to do atrocious things. I'm fine with "different perspectives". I'm not fine with the bigoted actions that follow those specific perspectives.

And guess what happens when the mentions for a missing persons cases are filled with the worst comments you've seen in your entire life? People are less likely to share that information, which also hurts the chances of them being found safe.

I share Missing, Murdered, and Unidentifed LGBTQ+ persons cases. Guess who are the people who come into my mentions to talk about genitalia or say absolutely horrible things about the literal victims I post about?

That is because of the inherent structure of our system. I'm all for trying to get a parliamentary system, but that would require a shitton of work by the left long term, and a bunch of the left won't even go vote against literal fascists, so I am skeptical at it's feasibility. 🤷‍♂️
