I’ve been reading “Careless People” and desperately need to talk about it with someone.

Can’t post about this on Meta for obvious reasons. 😳

This is all quite overwhelming.

This episode has stuck to my ribs ever since I watched it as a child.

Thank you, Karen, for this thoughtful dive into what message it has for us today as we’re living in our own version of the twilight zone.
As Janet’s story unfolds, televisions in the hospital broadcast an address by a government leader. The leader’s words are those of a totalitarian dictator. They happen also to be words that are eerily similar to those of advocates of Christian nationalism:

I am spending less and less time on Meta (more on Substack and dipping toes here) but as I do, I miss the community I spent 15 years cultivating. How do we find each other again?

My kids laugh and play around me, and I wonder about the world they’re inheriting. Yesterday, we had the day off to honor the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and recommit to remembering that our labor toward a more peaceable kingdom is not in vain.

“The universe is so extraordinarily fine-tuned to support life that it points powerfully to a purposeful Creator," wrote Christian astrophysicist Hugh Ross. "The more we learn about the cosmos, the more it aligns with the biblical description of a designed and sustained creation.”
A century after Hubble's discovery, our neighbor galaxies suggest a creator's mind
(RNS) — Hubble made no claims about a creator, but his discoveries and the wonder they evoke have prompted others to reconsider ‘the God hypothesis.’

Hi! I’m more and more leery of Meta, so I’m here! What do I do? Where do I go? How do I find my people?

I’m a writer and author. I’m training to be a spiritual director. I’m an extroverted contemplative. I love pop culture. I read at least 50 books a year across all genres. I have four kids. Help!
