In previous life I supported technology in the largest school system in Maryland, serving more than 160,500 students. I retired early to work full-time on Obama's 2nd campaign, & have kept an eye on Dem politics since.

Like this little dog in the Superman sweater?

I wasn't going to post a picture, but.. I mean, just look at that skinny little thing!

What's really galling is that his injury was caused by his (now former) vet clinic.

It's so hard for them to hold off on that first meeting! Our previous cat Artie LOVES other cats, especially kittens, and was SO anxious to meet Freddie. This picture is at 1 week, when we opened the door & put up a screen between them (making sure Freddie wasn't carrying any diseases).

Artie has a normal meow (but doesn't use it often, unless he wants treatos). But he can yell very loud when he wants Freddie to come play with him. It sounds like he's mad, but he just wants to play!

He's adamantly not a lap cat, but he is a prolific purrer.

This guy is a year old, weighs 11 lbs, and doesn't meow nearly that loud! In fact, he rarely meows at all, he mostly just says "hm".

He doesn't know how to purr, either, although in the last few weeks he has started to vibrate ever so slightly.

I have two: a bunny in the yard, and a fawn born under my kitchen window. He (or she) slept all day but got anxious waiting for mom as the sun began to set.

In DC with my husband, sis & a group from Leisure World MD yesterday, I was so proud when a group of Korean tourists wanted to take our pictures & take selfies with me! We're trying to do what they did in their country. I hope we're as successful. (I didn't get a selfie with them unfortunately)

Mine is less patient. In the first picture he's trying to muscle his way onto my husband's lap, and in the second he's made his way onto mine.

Looks a lot like my boy who turned a year old this month. He looks like an angel, but...😏

Challenge accepted. Here are my 2 current cats, Artie and Freddie (full name Freddie Mercury because he was a rolly polly ball of silver when we got him) and my 2 much-missed and -mourned cats, Loki and Reilly.

My 2 scoundrels tricked my husband into giving them a SECOND lunch. That's AFTER 1 of them conned me into giving him a treat right after breakfast.

I grabbed this photo this morning at a No Kings rally in Howard County MD. She looked to be ~90.

I beg to differ.

Her son chased them down & finally caught up to talk to 1 of them. Turns out we were WAY off. It was a group of Quakers marching to a rally in DC. They gave him this pamphlet.

The Quakers who ran my high school would've been appalled at the uniforms & flags, but 🤷‍♀️.

Our (slightly) older cat Artie looks like he has some Oriental shorthair in him and he fits that description exactly. Really smart and elegant, and he has such good manners! He's trying to teach the kitten, but Freddie is pretty rambunctious.

This looks a lot like Freddie!

This is my son's Chihuahua. He died in 2022. He was evil tempered and not too bright. Even in his current state, buried in my garden, he'd do a better job.
May 2, 2025 at 5:56 PM
Having drinks on the screen porch with the neighbors, and Freddie got to birdwatch from the "outdoors" for the first time. I'm sure he's going to insist it's not the last time...

Lol we got a kitten a little while after Artie (the cat for whom Artie was companion died), & while we love him, & Artie has been great about raising him, he really is a wild man.

Not his fault though, he has this evil TAIL that follows him everywhere, no matter how fast he runs or high he climbs.

For anyone who thinks, "She's been available awhile, must be something wrong with her," We got Artie (below) after he'd been up for adoption at 2 separate shelters, for over 6 months. He started as a kitten, was an adult when I got him. He's just about the smartest, sweetest, BEST cat I've ever had.
