Credit for the movie design -- and to use this standee version since it shows all the details... I love how the robe is used to support the arms. I love that half of it is carved stone, but the other half is quarried blocks to fill in all the details. I love that you SEE the quarry.

I love this ugly ass bryce (I assume?) render with these blocky carvings that feel like they're some background detail in Shadow of the Colossus or something It's not what I would envision but I love how radically different it is. I'm... also pretty sure it's just a bump-map lol

Tolkien apparently liked this one though which isn't carved from the mountain. but I appreciate the compact pose that looks like it would last for centuries. Also very cute~

I've also been digging up art of places as I read, trying to find pre-movie art. The Argonath is tough, I feel like that sign is both good (... editorial changes aside) and influential. It's tough but you can find stuff.
My own taste aside, I prefer less free standing statues and arms.

I've also been digging up art of places as I read, trying to find pre-movie art. The Argonath is tough, I feel like that sign is both good (... editorial changes aside) and influential. It's tough but you can find stuff.
