Domenico Grasso is U-M’s interim president.
Today, the University of Michigan Board of Regents named Domenico Grasso (PhD ʼ87) as the university’s interim president, effective immediately, through the search for the next president. President Grasso has held the role of chancellor of the University of Michigan-Dearborn since 2018, where he oversaw several significant achievements. In his first message to the university community, President Grasso said, “For more than two centuries, the University of Michigan has stood as a global leader—a transformative force for good in education, research, and health care, not to mention its unparalleled legacy in athletics. During my time as interim president, my focus will be clear: to support the well-being of our three campuses, to pursue our academic mission, and to foster a vibrant environment where the best minds continue to thrive, unblinkered and unfettered.” Read more about President Grasso and the announcement in the University Record.

Sam Stein @samstein 5h much to unpack in Trump's Time interview. but among the actual admissions he does make of news value is that he would be fine if Abrego Garcia was brought back to the country and retried Ed Whelan @EdWhelanEPPC 2h No need to “retry” Abrego Garcia. (The administrative hearing he had was not a trial.) Just go through the proper steps to remedy the illegality of his deportation. That might not even require “bringing him back.” Might be doable by Zoom (according to folks I trust). So striking that Trump administration has shown no interest in finding an easy way to resolve this. I wonder if Trump thinks that Stephen Miller is a lawyer.

So it appears the U.S. originally planned to pay $6M for El Salvador to imprison 300 men. Sen Van Hollen revealed this week that we will pay up to $15M for people we send there.

I take that to mean that they’re considering sending up to 750 men.

That attorney was Justice Department lawyer Erez Reuveni, who likely strongly disagrees with that characterization. If so, he could have a defamation case...
