If you turn all the fans on at the same time, does the whole place lift off the ground and hover..?

I haven't seen ceiling fans like that outside industrial premises. One of those has *nine* blades..!

The Mil Mi-26 heavy transport helicopter makes do with a mere eight...

Bernard Lovell. Met him just once, I was ~15, already a licenced radio amateur. Long chat about radio; low-noise receivers/amplifiers, aerials, filters...

Showed me around the non-public bits of Jodrell Bank; seemed to enjoy 'nerding out' with a Young Person™ who knew what he was talking about.

This one was from Royal Mail back in August. I gave up, it was just too annoying.
Bloody CAPTCHA.

Some are truly awful and are more effective at blocking neurospicy people than bots.

Obviously, you'd need keys to access the houses... and the other items are identifiably indoors.

But selecting everything fails.

I've never been to NYC (or the US) but have this idea of 'NYC cab driver' in my mind, probably from watching loads of films.

I assumed it was an exaggerated stereotype, a caricature...

It isn't..? <eyes widen in amazement>

Fascinating; thank you for taking the time to write this. I may need to go back and make notes; there's probably the odd book to acquire.

Already have something covering nerve agents, Porton Down and related unpleasantness (but can't find it right now); this is kind-of a parallel subject.

Don't want to 'spoiler' it for anyone... but I've enjoyed the source material many times. One bit of it while... a little 'altered'. I think. Seems likely :-)

Lost it on the very first notes of the track.

Excellent work, sir :-)

The 'oh-no-second' is smaller, I think. The time between hitting 'Enter' and realising you really should not have done that...

I think I'm going to blame 'house pixies' and try asking, if they borrowed something, may I have it back, please?

It can't be me being ridiculously absent-minded.
Anyone know where my not-X-Acto knife is?

Not on my bench. Not in the tool-case pocket where it lives when not on my bench. Not near my bench, where it could've fallen during a crapalanche. I've checked under/behind things. With a borescope.

It has very thoroughly vanished. I am baffled.

'Efficiency level VI'...

When selecting devices which violate physical laws, always choose those which do so efficiently.

Cool photo... which took me several moments to figure out.

Good timing..! :-)

I have right-angled SATA cables, but they're angled the wrong way for this.

Can I get SATA cables angled left/right, so I can use all four ports without the cables getting in the way of the drive cage?

These turned up on AliExpress after a few minutes, then on my doormat after several days.

Where was I?

Replacing the graphics card ought to mean I could use the HDD cage again. But...

The SATA ports face into cage; cables have to be connected after sliding cage into place. If there are HDDs in the cage, the SATA ports are inaccessible... Oh bum...

SA80 modelled so accurately it jams, the furniture falls apart etc... or the later revisions..?

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

In the seventies, kids (including me) in Bolton were carving terrifying turnips, remarkably similar to these, annually for Hallowe'en.

I wonder how this tradition ended up Lancashire? I had no idea it originated in Ireland or that it was maybe unusual in England.

Certain food packaging manufacturers...
ATTENTION..! FOOD PACKAGING MANUFACTURERS..!

If you make packaging for sliced meat, filled pasta, or whatever, and the recycling instructions are:

Tray: Recycle
Film lid: Do not recycle

Please put some R&D effort into making the lid peel off, CLEANLY and COMPLETELY..?

Please..?

It's not in the fridge, where I once found my needle-nose pliers. After that incident, I always check the fridge for anything that's disappeared.

I've ordered a new one. This, of course, will induce the old one to materialise somewhere bloody obvious shortly before the new one arrives...
