Here's a great video from @streetcraft.bsky.social showing how people miscalculate parking vs walking distances in urban vs rural contexts.
There is SO much parking in Toronto, you just can't see it because it's around the corner, but closer than walking @ the Mall

Several of our corridor projects have repeatedly proven that customers do not use the parking spots in front of businesses.

Those parking spots are not sustaining the businesses.

It looks fine and better.
But that sign is not enforceable or matches the pavement markings.
There is no stop control, it's a yield condition (which the yield markings indicate)
Can't slap a crosswalk down anywhere with no stop control and expect motorists to legally stop.

I posted photos and video.

What do you find offensive about them? There is no stop control there, no ped signals - it's a yield condition.

Similar to crossing any live lane of vehicle traffic.

When were you last there?

People cycling are issued tickets for these things almost weekly.

Both are under the province.

TWO!

1. Cyclists permitted to use leading pedestrian intervals & PXOs
Saves over a million $ of cycling budget on signals & eliminates needing council approval for so many cycling things.

2. Permit bidirectional cycling on all 1-way local streets, ala Paris.

Both make roads safer for everyone.

If only.
Need to wait until at least 2029 to even think about trying this.

For Drainage - to help ensure water gets to the catchbasins.
In a full road reconstruction we could have added catchbasins in the road, but they all in the bikeway at the curb

Without those gaps, the water on the road can't get to them.

Similar to how we leave gaps between the modular curbs.

The manufacturer is selling the fact that MMAX can be applied in an extended construction season .. but are only selling the Hot end of the season.

We use it here because it can also be applied when it's really cold (until the roads are salted, then all bets are off)

The various Bills prevent removing motor vehicle lanes, not right-sizing the ones that do exist.

Similar to the lavender corners on Bloor Street West - we chose solid colours that do not have any traffic meaning.

Yeah, we could have used grim grey or boring beige
But why?
🩷 😉🫡

These are MMAX, durable paint with "grit" embedded for traction.
