You heard it here first, by year's end, you'll be able to pay extra to NOT have "AI" included in your device.

Put Faster-Whisper on a RPi5 with hard-wire Ethernet in the same cabinet as the HA server. Ping times < 0.5ms. Went from 3-5 seconds for a voice response to 1 second or less. It's not like I'm asking it to work with long phrases.

Continuous improvement!

My sister in law makes them every year on the big annual family camping trip. So much fun to make, and eat!

Gotta use a HAT, but for $12, worth it.

I just built a Raspberry Pi 5 with an NVMe Hat to act as my primary music server. I'd only ever bought NVMe's for big PCs, so I learned there are different form factors. After I'd bought everything. Some double sided tape and a rubber band are holding the way too long NVMe on top of the Pi.

Biggest things we miss, only a couple kinds of restaurants, and it's a tourist area, so many are overpriced tourist fare. So, we cook everything. But, any not mainstream ingredient requires expensive online shopping, or a full day trip to a big town. Service folks (contractor, gardening, etc) 2/x

It's a mixed bag. It's quiet, I don't spend time figuring out how much of my life I spend in traffic. By and large, people and businesses are extremely nice. But, little competition and volume, so prices for everything are higher, and selection is sparse. Many Amazon deliveries. 1/x

I wish they had ANY actual connection with Mendocino county. They pop up online for me often since I live there, but they're a SoCal thing.

Totally underappreciated flick. I absolutely loved it. I like it with a twist of lemon.
