The American Right fundamentally rejects the idea of a pluralistic, democratic society that does not award privilege to certain people based on race, gender, religion, and wealth. They reject the pluralization of culture, the public square, the institutions, and all spheres of American life.

“We are going to have to live here with each other” sounds good in a vacuum. But it reveals itself to be a remarkably naïve and/or disingenuous proposition as soon as we move from abstract notions of “our disagreements” to asking: What are we disagreeing over, exactly?
