i just think that we should not need to resort to dehumanization in order to defend ourselves. taking the bumpers off means we have the potential to throw a lot of gutter balls, and innocent ppl — who aren’t actually nazis, but maybe that neighbour who hates them insists they are — will pay for it

No idea whose cat this is, but it lives around my neighborhood. Today I sat down across from it. It didn't let me touch it, and it didn't run *away*. It kept running *toward* and then *past* me very quickly. Delightful.

Anyone have any idea why you can't have a unified Workday account, to save and autofill your entries in the same exact application form that thousands of companies use?
It feels like in 2023 I shouldn't be having to memorize hundreds of words of work experience and type them over and over again.

It sucks that you get bullied if you like lolrandom humor, but it makes sense: we have to enforce mature taste, which is complex and discriminating. It's just like sexuality, where you get bullied if you're complex and discriminating about what turns you on, because mature taste is open and varied.

I don't know if this has been done, but I bet if you took a bunch of factory workers, artists, accountants, whatever, and made them watch people learning how to do their job [what they consider] "the wrong way", then had them predict those people's job performance at 6mo, they'd undershoot *wildly*

It’s important to express your ideas in as many ways as possible—it benefits your own clarity. Resorting to shorthands and names of hyperobjects too much atrophies your understanding in favor of the dopamine hit of invoking those names. In particular, crucial concepts like racism, ableism, and such.
