I continue to recover well from my operation. Now able to lift and hold my baby, albeit with a bit of soreness/discomfortable. Incisions are healing well too. Almost back to normal now, which is pretty remarkable given I had an organ removed just over 2 weeks ago.

The word 'not' has a fascinating history.

'Not' comes from a Germanic combination of three words: *ne aiw wiht, lit. "not a thing whatsoever".

This also became 'naught/nought'.

German 'nicht' and Dutch 'niet' have the same origin.

So far maternity leave has not quite gone to plan.

Following an acute cholecystitis episode in August, last week I had a laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

After a few initially brutal days, my recovery is going better than expected, but I’m sad I can’t pick up or hold my daughter without assistance.

As the outdoor pool season wraps up in 🇩🇪, a few lucky pooches are making quite the splash - literally!

Several pools have opened their doors for a traditional dog swim before the water gets drained.

In Waltershausen, for example, 95 four-legged friends enjoyed the cool water.

Hello👋🏼 I’m finally on here. Slowly working my way through finding people who I’ve been following on that other site.

My posts might be sporadic for a little while as I navigate motherhood with a little baby - currently on maternity leave from my job.

Keeping up the language learning when I can.
