This disaster has consumed me. I don't know how to reconcile my desire to be safe and healthy with my desire to help others who have so much less than me. My desire to help and also to shut down. I keep reading reports and get constant fire updates from Watch Duty. It's overwhelming.

Surreal, maybe? Something about the dichotomy? How are humans supposed to process tragedy and beauty at the same time? I suppose the answer to that is what makes a life. But this feels too close to home. My new home, where I want to build that life.
