We have 🌸✨FOUR 🌸✨spaces left in our next online writing group!

It is a well-established group and a gently faciliated space, with no pressure to share work unless you want. Whilst not a therapy group, wellbeing support is available. Open to all adult survivors of #CSA

Really pleased to say that I passed my viva with minor corrections yesterday ☺️

I'm hoping to be able to organise some online events to share the research findings at some point, but in the meantime, if you're a professional or advocate who would like to chat, please reach out!

100% We need to shift the focus from survivor's 'needing' to speak to whether and how we listen to what they're saying.
There's a pervasive belief in Australian advocacy circles at the moment that we will see change if we just "speak our truth" & "keep telling our stories".

Victim-survivors have been telling their stories for decades. If you weren't aware of them, it's usually because you chose not to hear them.
There are a whole lot of survivor advocates who are deeply skeptical of any anti-violence approach that requires victims to tell their rape story in public.

We saw during #MeToo how the victims weren’t protected. A lot were harassed instead. And the men “held accountable” just became more powerful.

"I was murdered slowly"

It's time we recognised that there are many ways abusers destroy their victims. Death by suicide is one of them. Hold them accountable.

Every woman's life stolen by male violence is a story cut short. The Guardian's "Killed Women Count" project highlights the 80 women whose deaths have led to a man being charged.

Tackling MVAWG must always be an urgent national priority.

As always, thank you to the exceptional women who contributed to the research. It wouldn't exist without you 💜

When I disclosed #CSA I welcomed specialist advice from an ISVA, (particularly around reporting), but I was not telling people because I wanted them tell me what they would do.

The best responses were from those able to listen without judgement - the ones who said “can I support you in any way?”

They twist your words until you don’t trust your memory.

They deny things you know happened, leaving you doubting your reality.

They make you question if you’re too sensitive, too emotional, too much.

Gaslighting isn’t miscommunication—it’s manipulation.

Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, marking the start of the 16 days of Activism.

In 2023 every 10 minutes globally a woman is killed by a partner or family member.

In 2022 the rate was one woman killed every 11 minutes.

1 minute matters.
