I used to do group costumes with my guinea pigs! The last year we did it before Moakley crossed the rainbow bridge ow bridge, we were Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach. Haven’t been brave enough to try with the cats yet 😂

Anyway I did this Hungry Caterpillar nail art tonight because I’ll be volunteering at a book sale all weekend (my mom’s women’s AAUW chapter organizes it and she roped me in) and I’m super proud of the way they came out!

Took two extra trips to the store because I forgot two different ingredients, but I made taco soup for dinner and it’s also really good!
A bowl filled with reddish soup that is made with taco meat, a pureed charred chili mixture, chicken stock, beans, corn, tomatoes, and crushed tortilla chips and then topped with whole tortillas chips and cheddar cheese broiled to make it melty and finally garnished with fresh salsa!

So, not only does Sophie have cancer but…even if I blew a lot of money trying to treat it, I’d probably only buy her a few months. So I’m going to give her palliative care until she tells me she’s ready to go 😭😭😭

Today’s palliative care:

Sophie, my heart cat, had a mass on her foot when I came back from New Orleans and my vet took biopsy samples and it came back as a rare form of cancer 😭 so I’m taking her to an oncologist next week but…I don’t want to do anything that isn’t in her best interests, so this will be rough

HA! It slid out perfectly, no resistance. Either my oven ran hot, or my pan is more conductive than the recipe expects because it’s a bit too brown, but I bet it will taste fantastic!

While all that stuff with my mom was going on, I knew I needed something to keep the anxiety at bay so I finally whipped out this stained glass mini greenhouse IKEA hack project to keep my brain occupied. I followed a tutorial, so not my original idea!

My handyman of over 10 years came by today to take care of a couple of things. As we settled up my calico ran by and he said, “Hi Sophie! Your other cat is Pango right?” And then sadly, “I’ve never seen Pango…” 💔

(So I showed him how Pango was currently hiding from him. Pango is not smart 😂)

Last dish of the night! I made honey glazed chicken and shallots with mashed potatoes. I will also be making stir fries and probably rice bowls for meals this week, but don’t have to prep those in advance!
