That makes it WORSE, which I wouldn’t have thought possible. And yet I think you’re right. “I’m bored by her s3xual submission.” 🤮 “Only a real woman could hold his attention!”

1. I was just taking to a friend about the proximity to power fantasy that crops up in a bunch of books and gives us the ick.

2. This is a whole other level of book than the ones we were discussing. Reading the quotes made my physically ill. I don’t know how you got through even a few pages. 🤢🤮🤮

*stares at own hands* Have I been a robot this whole time???

Same for my reading stats 😂

Ooh I have this one, I should bump it up the list.

For a second there I thought you were rating it 8/52, and I was impressed by what must be a detailed and brutal rating system. 😆 But this sounds lovely!

Excuse you, I *know* you love upsetting us marshmallowians. My Roman Empire is the time you dragged people for putting mustard on sandwiches and TBH I’m gonna die mad about it. 🤣🤣

I am the same, and yet in a choice between cheese and suffering,

My MIL voted for him because she’s convinced she’ll make more money from Social Security. Which he is trying to eliminate. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.

Spoiler: It does not make sense. I truly don’t know how to reason with it, but I feel like someone has to.
February 9, 2025 at 3:16 AM
It really is. I take hope from the handful of lifelong Republicans I’ve met who have refused to vote for him. For those of us with MAGA in the family 😒 it feels like an obligation to reason with them if possible. It’s also crazy to me how many old ⚪️ people vote without really understanding issues.

Tell me more 👀… like are any of these available?

I mostly listen to history and nonfiction, but here are some non-dry audiobooks I’ve recently enjoyed: Motherthing, an unhinged horror made more unhinged by the narrator’s delivery, and Soil, which is a beautiful, poetic memoir by a nature writer.

Not the whole world. I promise you.

Good pitch, I’m in. 📚

You mean the people who thought and somehow still think they were voting about the price of eggs? 🙃🫠

🍆 Anyway, it’s Black History Month, so here are two book recs that address topics of history and the value of uncomfortable communication. If anyone else has recs, I would love to be smarter.

🦄 to have to speak to those people. They might not listen to me, but they definitely won’t listen to the people who are in the most danger right now. I don’t see how things will change if we don’t leave that door open. Fuck if I know how to approach this, but I’m trying. 🍆

🍁 In the context of large social justice issues, though, I feel like I have a responsibility to talk to people who DON’T agree with me. I have extended family and parents-of-friends who I hold views I can’t comprehend or respect. But if things are every going to change, people like me are going 🦄

This is a beautiful follow-up to the earlier post about this group. 😌 The youth are showing up.
February 8, 2025 at 11:14 PM
This was not an okay place for me to ask this. To clarify: there are people who voted based on sound bites and single issues. I don’t respect their ignorance, but as a whitey I feel some obligation to have conversations in those spaces, but I’m too 🏳️‍⚧️+🏳️‍🌈 to do this without screaming so far.
